hmmmm...kind of suspicious about buying a used car and then having an issue like this show up.
Hope you get your answers.

Network card gave up its ghost on my 18 month old desktop. Had to pull the dieing 10 yr old Dell Inspiron out of the closet for a few days, then recall all my passwords.

pwnd- maybe change the cable ends that conect to the battery. Sounds like there may be some corrosion between the wire and the clamps. I just had to do that. Bright lights, but lights go out and click, click, click, or nothing, when trying to start. Wiggle the cables and see if it "restores" the connection, even for a moment.

I checked for corrosion and found nothing. It is super clean. I really think that it is the battery. Apparently the battery can test good but actually be going bad and giving you problems like what we are experiencing. So ya, holding out that it is just the battery going bad...

Bummer deal on the network card. Hope you can replace it quickly.

network cards and batteries...wow we are getting techie here now

I think we have a few extra network cards from old computers and we have a few extra computers too but always a bummer when things go bad...hope you can get it up and running again soon Perkunas.

and I think that finding out about battery issues now is much better than say in the middle of winter when you are out someplace and its a sunday and/or holiday and no one will help you.....good to find out now rather than later.

There was no visible corrosion on my clamps, but there would be a spark between the cable and the clamp when I turned the key. $7.00 & 10 minute fix. Everyone was saying change the battery and/or the alternater. Battery tested good at Walmart and the alt tested good at Autozone. Because I saw the arc after testing both, I bought 2 clamps at Autozone, not Walmart (the ones on it were bought at Walmart).

Moving towards winter too quickly. Some family members are already planning Christmas parties, with invites already sent. With the crazy schedule that my wife works, there is no way we can plan that far out. We won't know her Dec. schedule until last 2 or 3 days of Nov.

No spark when we turn the key. At least not that we have seen. So ya. Honda techies will just have to figure it out. Still hoping it is the battery, but I would be okay if it were the clamps.

It's not even October yet guys. Fall just started. Lets slow down a bit.

Hey cosy, can you tell your friends to get out of my apartment? There apparently is a mouse in here... Wife ain't happy about that.

lol....not my friends...Fieps friends...and no thank you we dont need any more critters running around here. (you need to find their nest to get rid of them unless you catch the momma mousey---they really like peanut butter better than cheese...you can get some of those humane traps if you want and put a bit inside and they will go for it--or bring it to school and let it loose there!! )

Well tell Fiep we don't want his friend. I set traps last night, and of course I used peanut butter! They love that stuff. As of this morning though, no mouse. He/she is still running free we think. Unless it moved into a new apartment.

Well car goes to the shop today. Here is to hoping it is a quick, cheap, and easy fix.

lol...fiep knows not many people agree with his friends staying at their place--though he also says that he has very little 'pull' with his friends either.

good luck on the car!

Well so long as fiep is aware and stays out.

Well my wife just got back from there with no car. They ran all the test and at first thought it was a bad starter. After working on it a bit more they now believe that it is actually a bad battery. They found no drain on the battery and think a cell is just on its way to going bad, but hasn't yet. So they are keeping it over night and then we will get it back tomorrow with hopefully just a new battery. So ya.

yeah, hope for good news on both fronts!

made homemade mac&cheese last night, ever since I learned the easy recipe for the cheese part we have had it a lot more often (can use any old cheese--and I mean old, as long as you remove the moldy parts, its a good way to use those cheeses up). Fiep may not be a fan of cheese, but I am!

Yup definitely. It's Friday and if they say it is just a battery problem I'll be very glad. So here is me hoping they come in and that battery is dead.

We went out to Olive Garden to celebrate my wife's birthday. She picked the place. Then came back and she opened presents before we had cake that I made. Yup, I made cake. o.O And it is good. O.o

ah, how domestic of you pwnd!
(box mixes are usually pretty easy to follow )

sounds like a pretty nice birthday to me.

batteries...had a few in the toyota, only on the 2nd in the subaru. Toyota seems to be harder on them than the subaru....when we had the subaru one replaced they couldnt believe it still had its ORIGINAL battery! (the mechanic/techie guy called a few others over to show them what an original 2002 battery looked like---they had NEVER seen one before!) Toyota seems to like to go thru batteries (and tires).

Hey now! Box mixes may seem easy to follow but they are definitely deceiving. They aren't as easy as you think!

I think I still have the one in my Camry from when we bought it a few years ago. So it will probably need to be replaced in the next year or so. We had more battery issues with the Oldsmobile than with the Camry.

lol, box mixes have like 3 items you need to add...mix and put in a pan, I think mac&cheese has more things you add! (not to mention cooking the noodles correctly).

you forget I LOVE to cook--heck, even my hubby can follow those directions well (as long as we have those 3 ingredients....otherwise, his 'substitutions' are usually very VERY BAD choices!)

as cars go, my honda never had battery issues, brakes oh yeah and mufflers it went thru, but batteries? I think I replaced it once? (had the car 15 years)....but this was also back in the day that things were made to last years and years -----

But then you have to mix it to the right consistency. Plus putting it in the pan is not as easy as it sounds. You can't just plop it in there, you have to start in the middle and go from side to side. Ridiculous...

I can follow directions so long as they give all the directions. That I can do, I just prefer not to cook. Cause ya.

Well batteries go bad, it's a fact of life. Just have to hope that it was just the battery. I'll feel better once we have had the car back for a week or so and have no issues.

actually you dont have to start in the middle...you can just dump it in---but then you have to tap it so that the mix settles evenly (I used to work in a cake shop/bakery...did plenty of those).

yes, no issues with a recently purchased item is what one usually hopes for!

I enjoy the kitchen. Will be starting a culinary arts class in a couple weeks. With cake mixes, I just dumped them in and give the pan a spin or two. Then I bounce it a couple times to remove bubbles.

Air conditioners are out of the windows, screens and glass cleaned letting in the cool fresh air. I figure around Thanksgiving I will be covering them with plastic.

What? I have to tap the pan... Oh geez. That seems confusing. Someone get me a grill! STAT!

I knew something would eventually go wrong with the car, just wish it hadn't happened so soon. But at least it was just the battery. I'm okay with that.

It was warm here the past few days but should be cooling off now. It is currently raining so that should help.

had some rain move thru yesterday that cooled it off a bit...but supposed to get back to 80 later this week (it is October then right?).
I am not complaining as its nice to have the warmer weather longer---and not have to turn the heat on and pay those electric bills! (though, yeah a/c costs too--but not as much as having to pay both gas and electric in the winter!!)

going to have our furnace checked out and have the ducts cleaned--perhaps that will allow my allergies a day off or two.
